ISL 2020-21: Kwesi Appiah’s penalty helps Gerard Nus’ NorthEast beat Lobera’s Mumbai

Just a moment of madness from Ahmed Jahouh turned the game on its head as the Moroccan mediator gave the march orders almost half an hour ago. In the early stages of the second half, United Northeastd a penalty was awarded, and it proved to be the goal of the match.

With Jahouh receiving a red card on the Khassa Camara, NorthEast United FC took the lead in the men’s penalty area and won a penalty after the ball hit Rowllin Borges’s side inside the box.

Kwesi Appiah made no mistake about where to send it Amrinder the wrong way to lead NorthEast United.

With a FC Mumbai City under pressure and pursuit of the game, NorthEast United controlled the game and created a few more chances with the likes of Ninthoi and Imran Khan to miss out on some good goal-scoring opportunities.

Sergio Lobera tried different things with CY Goddard replacing Ogbeche but to no avail, as the Highlanders Island defense stayed away. Mumbai had a minimal chance when in the 65th minute Sarthak bowed his head to the cross, but his attempt went an inch over the bar. The Lobera team knocked on the door in the final quarter, but the equalizer fell away from them. Khassa Camara was awarded the Man of the Match for her outstanding performance.

NorthEast United FC won its first game of the season for the first time since the 2016-17 season.
