Sketch Gravity, A design and production collaboration platform based in London that uses reality, has raised $ 3.7 million.
The seed cycle was managed by Kindred Capital, with the participation of Point Nine Capital and former investor Forward Partners. That brings the total amount collected by Gravity Sketch to $ 5.4 million. In addition, the startup has previously received donations from InnovationRCA and the James Dyson Foundation.
Gravity Sketch, founded in 2014 by Oluwaseyi Sosanya, Daniela Paredes and Daniel Thomas, wants to change the way we design, develop, and market physical products. It provides 3D design software for interdisciplinary teams so they can “create, collaborate, and evaluate” in a much sharper way, including the fact that collaboration can take place in 3D and real-time . The idea is to help accelerate development cycles, especially as teams spread around the world and grow as they go.
“Partnerships are more important because time is shortened and customers are quicker than products, with more features and are constantly evolving,” says Oluwaseyi Sosanya, CEO and co-founder of Gravity Sketch. “” At the same time, multinational companies are developing design and engineering teams spread all over the world, which need to stay connected in order to deliver the same accuracy as before in the same place. Aside from the pressure that comes from fast product cycles and remote work, the product design process itself is not always better, involving many teams with different disciplines and software tools moving from 2D to 3D. “When we talk about the design of a physical product, we imagine it in 3D,” says Sosanya. “However, for many years we have been forced to express that idea through 2D media, or rigid physical models. Meanwhile, Gravity Sketch says the new funding will allow the company to expand the platform to become “fully hardware-agnostic”. It now works with a variety of real-time companies, and is in beta for iPad, mobile and desktop.
